At MARU we serve up a deliciously fresh, quick and health driven offering which extends beyond Poke bowls. The fact that we are located so close to the Indian Ocean means easy access to daily fresh seafood – which strengthens our ethos and helps to make our food even tastier!

If you didn’t already know, MARU in Sinhala slang translates to ‘Awesome!’ We’ve always had a deep rooted love for Southern Sri Lanka which is home to our two oceanfront outlets, one in the historical Galle Fort and the other situated at the popular Kurumba Bay promenade in Weligama.

We’ve always been super inspired by Japanese food and culture – many Japanese ingredients feature in our menu. MARU also means ‘Circle’ in Japanese and is associated with goodness in Japan. MARU is also the basis for Enso, a traditional Zen Buddhist art that symbolizes enlightenment, strength and elegance. All of which gave us more reason to give this name to our chain of Poke Cafes.

We’re looking forward to welcoming you to one of our two outlets and hope to have more MARU outlets pop up across the island…and who knows, maybe even beyond.
